Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Budget Lens AI. By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these terms. Read them carefully.
1. The service
Budget Lens AI is an iOS application that helps you scan receipts, track spending, categorize expenses, and split shared costs. Core functionality runs on your device using Apple Vision and Apple Intelligence. Some optional features (iCloud Backup, group expense sync) depend on third-party services.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital consent age in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to use Budget Lens AI. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms.
3. Your account
Some features require creating an account. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Budget Lens AI offers a free tier and optional Premium subscription:
- Free. Core receipt scanning and categorization.
- Premium — Monthly. $4.99 per month (prices may vary by region).
- Premium — Annual. $39.99 per year with a 7-day free trial.
Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store. Your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage, cancel, or change your subscription in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Prices shown in the app are authoritative and may be updated with notice.
Refunds are handled by Apple under their refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.
5. Trials
If you start a free trial of Premium, you will be billed at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before the trial ends. Trial eligibility is enforced by Apple and is generally limited to one trial per Apple ID.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, except where permitted by law.
- Interfere with the security, integrity, or performance of the service.
- Scrape, crawl, or attempt to circumvent rate limits.
- Submit content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to submit.
7. Your content
Receipts you scan, categories you create, and other data you generate remain yours. You retain all rights in that content. Because your financial data stays on your device, we do not claim any license to it.
8. AI-generated insights
Budget Lens AI uses on-device Apple Intelligence to categorize transactions and surface insights. AI output may contain errors. Insights are provided for informational purposes and are not financial advice. You are responsible for reviewing categorizations and making your own financial decisions.
9. Third-party services
The app relies on Apple, Firebase (Google), RevenueCat, Sentry, and Cloudflare, each governed by their own terms. You agree to comply with any applicable third-party terms (notably Apple's App Store Terms).
10. Service availability
We strive for high availability, but we do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time with reasonable notice.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. Your use of the app is at your own risk.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Budget Lens AI and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising out of your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Termination
You may stop using Budget Lens AI at any time and delete your account from within the app. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms. On termination, your on-device data remains in your control; account data is deleted per our Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after the update date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in the United States, unless applicable consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
